About Me

My name is Michelle Litton and I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I graduated from Fontbonne University in December of 1999 with a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. My husband and I moved to Southern California for adventure and have been blessed to raise 3 children here in this beautiful state! I love to visit the beach, camp, hike, hang out with friends and connect with members of my community. My church family is also very dear to me.

I have worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for over 25 years for a local school district and have served students at every level: preschool, elementary, middle and high school, as well as with young adults in our transition program. It has been such a joy to see some of my former preschoolers enter into adulthood (makes me feel old but that’s okay—-I’m grateful for so many birthdays)!

In 2024, I was asked to co-mentor a chapter of Friendship Club at a middle school campus by the amazing people of Friendship Foundation. It has been an absolute privilege to bring neurotypical and neurodivergent students together through fun lunchtime activities on a weekly basis. The connections that have developed are so pure, real and meaningful. I was honored to be named “Teacher of the Year” in 2025 and am excited to continue forging friendships among my students through this club.

Early on in my career, I contracted with Harbor Regional Center as an SLP with children ages birth-3, with a focus on helping *littles* develop language and social skills while collaborating with their parents and caregivers.

For 3 years (from 2016-2019), I worked per-diem at two local skilled nursing facilities, conducting assessments and providing therapy for adults who endured strokes, brain injuries or progressive illnesses that affected their ability to speak, comprehend and/or swallow.

Certified as an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Specialist, I have assisted many children and adult clients and trained families, school staff, and other providers to communicate using a wide variety of applications/software. I am also a trained Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) clinician, specializing in supporting the communication of individuals who are considered Gestalt Language Processors and have a passion for helping individuals who struggle with phonological processing/reading.
